Hi, Richard - no, I haven't installed anything new, the only thing I've done is try to add an audio track so it looks like it's something to do with that. System Restore on Windows XP doesn't work like it used to and never has - according to a google search, apparently this is known.
Peter - thank you - I'll try that - it sounds like it might be the answer. At least I can get Finale to work by logging on as a different user so I can work again but I'll be glad when everything is working normally.
