Thanks Robert. I'll double check the 'Set current lyric' settings but I think 
it's unlikely to be the cause as I have the same problem on v25 AND on 2014 and 
2014.5.

I've already tried all the usual rebooting PC and restarting Finale tricks to 
no avail.

I've seen this problem, or similar, in Fin 25. Whatever causes the lyrics 
disappear seems random, but usually I can restore them with Undo, provided I go 
back far enough. You might also try restarting Finale or even the computer. (I 
sometimes have to restart the computer for playback issues.)

But your problem sounds like a simpler issue. Are you certain that "Set Current 
Lyric" is set to the same verse/chorus/section number as you are expecting? 
There is some strange behavior around this feature and it is worth checking.
