I don't complain personally, but it was quite an experience to slip into the skin of a newbie. The fink download page is the first and maybe only page that one reads in this situation, until something goes wrong. Next one probably tries to read the installer's README text which also only mentions ~/.cshrc. The FAQ or users guide come much later after the installation is complete and one has started to use fink.
BTW, is "fink scanpackages" at the beginning still needed with this version? I am not sure about this.
