No, I don't believe it is, unfortunately.
As an alternative, how about renaming the wxmac package to wxwidgets-mac, and wxgtk to wxwidgets-gtk? This would solve the problem I described earlier, and it wouldn't require any other changes in the .info files, except for trivial changes in the handful of packages in unstable that currently depend on wxmac or wxgtk. And I'd be happy to volunteer to commit those changes.
