I am attempting to build Rosegarden an audio / midi sequencing application for Linux based on QT/KDE 3 under Mac OS X. As far as I can ascertain all of the non-optional library dependencies can be met by packages currently in Fink.

However it would appear that there are build dependencies which are currently unsatisfied. These consist of a number ( two so far ) of header and interface definition files which seem to be variously packaged as a part of kdemultimedia, or where it exists, kdemultimedia-dev.

I had not until this point noticed the absence of the kdemultimedia package from Fink, and so, while I am attempting to satisfy these dependencies by other means, I am curious about the possibility of bringing this package into the distribution. Presumably this package was not omitted by choice, but for technical reasons. If so are there perhaps sub-components of it which could be built under Darwin / Mac OS X and included in the Fink distribution?

Having a package such as Rosegarden in Fink would for the first time bring fully functional open source Music software to Mac users, which given the prominence of Macs in music production environments could only be a good thing. The possibility of this would greatly increase, the more of kdemultimedia-dev that could be ported. While noatun and similar end user applications are probably not that significant, having libraries like kmidi would be a huge advantage in porting KDE based audio applications.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

Daniel
