If it is of help to anyone, the specific libraries needed for Rosegarden, compiled with arts and without alsa, jack and ladspa, are listed below. It may be possible to reduce the list further, but at the very least I suspect that libartsmidi, libartsbuilder, libartsgui, libartsmodules, libartsmidi_idl and libartsgui_idl would be needed.
Another possibility is to get in contact with Stephane Letz ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and see if he's made any progress on a Jack MacOSX driver. He posted to the CoreAudio list last month about working on such a thing. It would likely end up being considerably less latent than aRts. Having a native Jack driver would I think be more useful in the long run...
