Yes, according to the poster this morning, it was definitely the Netwolves
from TAMPA. It appears that the product is still going through what I call
growing pains of becoming a mature product, but I will give the poster the
benefit of the doubt.
Netwolves will probably meet the same demise as other in the firewall
appliance space. The firewall appliance space was a very difficult space
to define in 1997. What is it,a toaster that does what.. Everyone thought
cool, let's take the burden of hardening an o/s out of the firewall admin
hands, and provide them with some sort of box that has firewall
capabilities that all they have to do is tweak the rules here and there and
poof drop-in firewall. Well, ok, one just put yourself in an another
market space, the appliance space: WatchGuard, Whistle (now IBM), and
others. So now are you a SOHO firewall appliance or a corporate
appliance. So many choices,..

OK, back to the Symantec issue, the firewall/ids space is somewhat merging
together to create a bigger pond for the fish to swim in, that means more
competition.. Maybe, maybe not.. only time will tell

/m
