wow! good to see this is not something spooky[*] and specific to my machine. there are some differences however, in my case i complely replaced the released version. so there should be no traces of it left, and i get the problem just within the darcs version. also, my fishd dies eventually, and while it is running the fish instances can not connect and are busy while trying to connect...
