<< Jean Gayle Aberdeen Wa where we survived another storm and the sun is teasing us. >> Well Jean, you survived your storm and must have passed in on down south to Oregon! Know how I spent this morning? Bailing 4 inches of water out of Skylark's stall. And she's in the 12 x 24 FOALING STALL!!!! Aaarrrggghhh... I went out there first thing in the morning, and the poor girl was standing on a little island. It was an experience. We just bought this place last year and have busy steadily converting it into horse property, from being a mangy old pygmy goat farm. Built a nice barn, but it's on a slope. We've got a gutter, but the runoff isn't complete, nor is the french drain system. I've worked out a temporary fix, involving a kids plastic pool at the outer corner of the barn, and a big piece of wood to catch the water and divert it into the pool. Wind blew the wood over last night and water dripped, well, poured into the corner of the barn, creating Skylark's lake.... Can't wait for it to dry out enough for us to put in our french drain, runs, and more fencing. Oh yes... another load of gravel..... sigh. Pamela
