It does astound me that so much emphasis is put on the good looking
conformational stallion who may have come from a short legged ugly sire.
One of the best Holsteiner stallions in this country was Constitution, sire
of my mare.  When Carol Laval saw him she insulted the horse in front of the
owner who burst into tears.  "Not at all a good prospect for movement in
dressage"  You may know that Carol was the first American to win a medal in
Olympic dressage?  Constitution had get that averaged 6 to 8 and often 9 in
evaluations.  They were premium foals etc.  Yet he was oddly built and had
terrible feet which eventually did him.
