It may not be an EcmaScript4 implementation, but that's just semantics. ES4 is becoming Harmony, which is a new project with a unified working group, but it is the continuation of what we know as ES4.
So, if it makes you feel better, think of AS3 as an "early preview" of Harmony! ;-) Troy.
