Not really. I have a dual-band FM rig in the shack that may get turned on
once a month to find one of the locals. It cost a fraction of the price of
the VU upgrade. The capabilities of the FLEX are completely wasted.
OTOH, if you have no FM rig in the shack and you are going to get the VU5K,
why not use that for FM if it will do that? I agree that it is probably a
waste to get the VU5K just for FM but if FM is its secondary purpose ...
