Steve,
Try the RX1 In port and see if there is a difference. If it is OK, then
it is probably the HRFIO board. A simple field installable swap if the
VU is not installed.

Unfortunately it doesn't help explain why I am seeing such a big difference in
noise level between my IC735 and the Flex 5K. Even by narrowing the BW of the
flex down to 1.0K and adjusting the AGC-T, I cant achieve a noise level lower
than S5.5. My IC 735 has a more pleasant listening experience right now with a
S1-S2 noise level.
On rare occasions when the front end of a spectrum analyzer was damaged, we
noticed the noise level would go up significantly. I think I may give Flex a
call to see if there is a way to determine if it is damaged.

I'm running a Flex 5K (with 2nd RX and ATU, but they are off or bypass), SDR
2.2.2. I am seeing about a S8 level of noise with the preAmp off and a S6 with
the preAmp on. This seams backwards to me as my ICOM735 raises the noise level
when I switch the preAmp on. For reference, the AGC-T is 99, NR on, 14.200MHz
SSB with a BW of 2.4K.
If I move the antenna coax to my ICOM 735 the noise level is S1 with the preAmp
off.
Any ideas?
