If there had been no announcement of DI then there would be no emails or statements such as that by David. Simple as that. I have, myself, been waiting a very long time for Mac OS X platform support - which was announced to come with DI. After waiting a couple of years I have sold what I still consider an experimental radio with many outstanding features and a crappy user interface. TNF wasn't announced to come - so everybody is happy it's there. No expectations upfront but many satisfied users now. Why are FRS working on features that are not known/announced to FRS radio users? That's the main question I have and what made DI an illusion for me already two years ago. I'd expect a clear product roadmap with features assigned to releases - and one that is adhered to if no significant issue is speaking against it. Also, if changes to the product roadmap are made, I'd like to see a clear communication well in advance and with some background given. Am I expecting too much? Yes, maybe. Still, IMHO, that's what's causing problems for FRS. I am one example for a customer lost due to wrongly set expectations. 73, Frank > On Mon, Sep 19, 2011 at 9:10 AM, David Painter > <[email protected]>wrote: > >> For almost five years FRS has been making announcements about a New >> Architecture/Deep Impact development which, it was claimed, would permit >> implementation of enhancements such as independent mode/filter etc selection >> on the Multiwatch VFO; implementation of Multiwatch and independent >> mode/filter etc on the optional second receiver; totally separate >> panadaptor panels for the main and second receivers; rewriting of the GUI to >> sort out the appalling mess created when the second receiver was added (the >> epitome of an afterthought).
