If my Flex 1500 never received another improvement it would remain the
best receiver I have owned to date. The fact that it does periodically
have features added and things improved, at no additional cost I might add, is just icing on the cake. I can't ever recall Icom, Yaesu, or Kenwood doing that for me.

In terms of expectations with things like Deep Impact and unannounced features like TNF it's easy to understand why Flex doesn't talk about potential plans like they once did. When they are excited about an idea and have shared it with us there's a lot of griping and complaining if it doesn't come to pass exactly on schedule or perhaps not at all. Few people enjoy abuse and punishment. I imagine Flex is no different.

Much as I'd love a Flex 5000 I don't see that in the cards. I do look forward to buying a Flex 3000. Perhaps someone who's really distraught will offer the rig they can no longer tolerate at a really great price.
