I agree with you. I am exceedingly pleased with my Flex 1500 as is. Getting new features is an added and welcome bonus - NOT something I felt was OWED me by the Flex company. As far as bug fixes and making the radio perform like it was advertised perhaps there is a case for them being obligated - BUT I don't remember any grand promises that I would get, for example, a TNF feature. So, I am very pleased with that. And I feel like my Flex 1500 does everything I want it to do and a whole lot more.
I really did hope, though, that PowerSDR or some other software would run on Linux and let me use the O.S. that I want - to control my 1500 - BUT if that is not the case THEN I am still happy with my Flex 1500 and still would NOT trade it for anything .... well except I would trade it for a 3000 or 5000 if I could hi hi! I am on a fixed income and unless a rich relative dies I will probably not be able to buy a 3000 or 5000 so I admit I don't have the same perspective of the customers that buy and sell their $5,000 - $10,000 radios like they were shoes. And even IF Flex Radio went belly up and blew away tomorrow, I know I can keep my Flex 1500 running. Beyond that, I also know that since much of PowerSDR is open source I am NOT just dependent on Flex Radio for new features and improvements. So, if anyone wants to have a FIRE sale and ditch their 3000 or 5000 for a ridiculously low price and toss it out the door - let me know where that door is - please! ---Gary WB8ROL On Mon, Sep 19, 2011 at 11:52 AM, Tim N9PUZ <[email protected]> wrote: > If my Flex 1500 never received another improvement it would remain the > best receiver I have owned to date.
