Burke, In addition to Dan's comments I think you wanted a specs comparison. While Flex Radio seems to me to always be very open about information this is a situation where they really can't say anything yet because performance data from engineering prototypes frequently (always?) varies from actual production models.
I think it is safe to say that the performance of the prototypes has validated their confidence in the design (this probably accounts for their obvious excitement about what the radio will accomplish). When the first production boards are completed you can be sure they will be running tests and as soon thereafter as possible sending them out to an independent lab so they have data that nobody will question. (Personally I'd take Gerald's data to the bank but others would want to see Sherwood's or another lab's numbers as they may be presumed to be unbiased. While performance improvements may probably be taken for granted they are only part of the story and probably not even the largest part. The capabilities of the radio go far beyond what anyone else has been imagining. In fact that is the feature of greatest import. Loosening the users' imagination restraints is a paradigm shift in amateur radio. 73 Ed W1PN On Fri, May 25, 2012 at 7:34 AM, dan edwards <[email protected]> wrote: > Burke > ( correct me where i miss the mark, guys ) i too have enjoyed my F3k for > some time. the new rigs are revolutionary in at least 3 ways, i think. > 1. no longer QSD / QSE.
