Gary,

I have the Thinkpad running the SDR!  The set up is:

-  IBM ThinkPad Model G40,  2 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor, with 1 GB memory, Windows XP Pro
-  Extigy USB Sound unit
-  USB to parallel for SDR
-  ShuttlePro2 - USB connector
-  25 Amp Power Supply
-  Powered speakers

I've mounted the units on a board, tied down with tie straps, it's all cabled up and transportable as one unit..... plug the three USB connectors into the laptop..... and you're on the air!

I will be testing it out on a friends HF antenna setup later this week..... should be interesting for me...... and him!

Subject: RE: [Flexradio] SDR DXpedition

Guys,

I'd definitely be interested, funds and time allowing. IMHO, the keys to successfully using an SDR in a DXpedition are:

1.       Getting the virtual serial port stuff working properly with SERIOUS logging software (a la N1MM, etc.)

2.     Sorting out the issues of running off a laptop (which I think Terry W0VB may have accomplished)

3.     Having a bulletproof CW keyer

From what I’m hearing we’re pretty close on most fronts. Count me VERY interested.
