That's exactly what's happening, and it's a *totally inevitable* consequence of the quality of the filters: the lag is in the length of the buffers. That's how FIR filtering works.

The only way to eliminate this lag is to change the hardware/software configuration from being essentially half-duplex to full-duplex. This is not fundamentally a software fix, and no amount of ingenuity will change that.
