I need to correct my statement below, because it was not worded correctly, but the intent is the same.
There is a limiting process (ALC) within the DSP that is not hardware voltage driven. Because it is in the DSP, it is operating on the complex envelope of the IQ signal, so technically it is not AF. It was put in to protest the PA finals If you never drive the AF input past 0 dB, you will never have the AF ALC kick in. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz [mailto:flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz] On Behalf Of Steve Kallal Sent: Saturday, February 20, 2010 12:11 PM To: 'Flexradio' Subject: [Flexradio] About recently ALC changes in digi modes I've noticed there are recent changes where ALC has been added to the digital modes. I've always liked the idea of NOT having ALC when using sound card type modes. There is a constant mantra on digi forums about NOT driving the audio to the point where the ALC kicks in. It would give me some peace of mind if the PSDR ALC is not very aggressive in this sense. Let me (us) know. 73, Steve N6VL _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
