Yes the radio appears to go into transmit mode. Everything looks and sounds the same whether there is power or no power (well except for the guages, where both PSDR and the external meter show zero when there is no power) Of course, clicking FULL TUNE appears to put the radio into transmit, but when no power out, no relay clicks from the ATU. When the problem is occurring, clicking ATU runs for several seconds with no power out and then starts tuning, but the no output power detected message appears and tuning fails.
Setup-General-hardware config-Receive only is NOT checked.
Setup-General-Options-Disable PTT is NOT checked.
Setup-General-Options-All Mode Mike PTT IS CHECKED.

Symptoms are the same whether I click on MOX or key the external switch.

Does the radio appear to go into transmit mode? Could you have the Defeat PTT checkbox clicked in the General tab of Setup?

Do you hear relays click, etc,? Does PTT jack on the back go to ground when you click MOX?

        Lee,

You need to give some details as to what you are running
        besides just a Flex 5000.
        OS? SP?

    MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP HOME SP3

What kind of computer, (dual core, AMD?) Motherboard or brand

DELL DUAL CORE 2.8GHZ (SEE BELARC AND SIW REPORTS, IN SEPARATE EMAIL)

        PowerSDR version

    1.18.3

        Firmware version

    3.4.2.6300

        FireWire version

DON'T KNOW HOW TO DETERMINE THAT

AND what mode are you trying and are you using an amp?

NO AMP. USB LSB DIGI CW CWL

Any other details that you would like to share.
I USED ENDITALL TO SHUT DOWN DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING. ONLY THING
OTHER THAN SYSTEM RUNNING WAS POWERSDR. USED SIW AND BELARC
ONE AT A TIME TO PRINT SYSTEM INFORMATION REPORTS. SIMPLY
TRIED TUNING. MOST OF THE TIME, NO RF OUT. CPU% WITHOUT
POWERSDR RUNNING ~1.6%, WITH POWERSDR RUNNING 15-17%. STILL
NO RF OUT A LOT OF THE TIME. RADIO IS UNUSABLE AS A
TRANSCEIVER, WORKS GREAT AS A RECEIVER.

I did that. I still have intermittant power out,
two-three, sometimes more after keying out before any
power shows up on the output. Same problem I sent it back
to Flex because of. It worked for 3-4 weeks after I got
it back "could not duplicate" and then started the same
thing again. I jumped at the chance to load 1.18.5, but
it did not solve the problem. I notice that several
others have the same problem as I do. I ran for several
days not using the ATU, but problem persisted. Tried
moving the Drive slider, but problem persisted. deleted
nearly all running apps, but problem persisted. Defragged
hard drive, but problem persisted. I don't get it. It is
very frustrating and it needs to be either explained or
fixed. I am having to use this FT-857D and wish I could
use my new shiny Flex-5000A, cuz it ain;t big enough or
heavy enough to serve as a boat-anchor. I don't need just
a receiver. I need the transmitter to work also. Maybe I
need Neal to build me a brand new computer. Who knows.???????

Uninstall 1.8.3, reboot, reinstall 1.8.3 and then kick
                it up. I think that
                will fix it.
