Well, Neil, I won't mention 18.4 or 5 but I do talk to my ham radio buddies
and from time to time and they do make nasty comments when I happen to
mention that, for example, I had to click "start" twice. And they don't
hesitate to make some remark to the effect that the knob and button radios
don't seem to have that problem. But then I remind them who it is they come
to when they want to know something about general band congestion or who it
is who can quite consistently talk accross the country whenever he feels
like it, completely oblivious to QRM and N and, most importantly, who it is
who feels blessed at having this marvelous Flex resource at his command?
But the nail in the coffin of their comments comes when I point out that I
constantly warn them that the computer is the radio and the radio is the
computer and challenge them to open their rigs, remove half of the circuit
boards and still have something more than an unenhanced crystal set. After
all, we expect our SDRs to work with just about any computer we find at the
recycling center that has the correct sized cable hole!

It would also be nice if we could upload the output from a system
diagnostic
program like SIW, HWINFO32, MSINFO32, etc so we can see the hardware side
of
the Other Part of the Radio.

Tim,
Gee, back in the DOS days, we were limited to 80 characters per line. We
could then insert a CRLF every 80th character to make it fit within the
page
width & we would only have about 2000 lines of text....hi..hi. Actually,
the stuff that makes the file so big are all of the XML tags, probably
about
50%.
Seriously, while writing my previous reply, I saw that a support question
for SDRDataTransfer had entered my inbox, so I rushed it a bit. Let me
continue....
I ended with, "That is a lot of text to include in an e-mail." I was
thinking of a post to the reflector where attached files are not allowed.
Of course the file could be attached to a private (non-reflector) e-mail
for
analysis purposes.
If you (or others) think that this type of file would be useful, I would
gladly add a feature to SDRDataTransfer to generate a text file with the
contents of the database in a more human-readable format.
