You will hear this and the audio will be fatiguing to listen to. Why
waste the nice low distortion audio recovery of the Flex on a lousy
audio amp?
Spend enough to get a low distortion stereo amp and with some decent
speakers or headphones you will have a system better than anything
else out there.
I could never understand why all the Yeacomwood radios and most others
as well, spent a significant effort in the design of the RF and IF
chain for decent dynamic range and low IMD and then blow in in a
crappy 10% distortion audio output stage...

The output on the FLEX-5000 is stereo. I don't recommend going the
mono route. Grounding or floating one channel is not recommended.
Also using a mono output eliminates one of the coolest features;
being able to listen to the RX in a true binaural mode by listening
to the I and Q channels in separate ears.
