Yes, probably my fault - I gave up on QD when I did my utf8 port and switched to Quartz only. It was too hard to make it handle the Unicode properly, while Quartz was much easier, and I needed it working quickly... QD is officially deprecated now anyway, so I'd like to direct energies into really fixing the Quartz implementation rather than trying to patch the QD version. The Quartz implementation still has some vestigial QD hooks that probably we should work out how to remove.
