A good question but, again, you are not speaking about any specific version
of MySQL, so your advice is not exactly useful in this form.

This is something the original requester - who might not have known about BOMs - can check since I don't know his mySQL version, too.

'endianness' is not a word (or computing term), of course. It is simply
"little endian" and "bid endian".
