You'd lose your bet. FMI may be fairly accused of many things, a certain ineptitude in their web design certainly, but I would not ascribe what you describe to the person I like least in the marketing department, let alone to any of the engineers.
It is an unfair accusation. FMI is constantly haranguing us to submit bug reports and feature requests. They are not idiots, and want all the feedback they can get, so that they can craft a better product, about which much of the staff feel passionately. One of their complaints is that so many of the complaints they need to hear are mis-directed to lists like this one. You wouldn't bother if it was just some little minor quirk, but obviously you don't put the current problem in that category, so their little lure has trapped exactly the kind of fly they're looking for.
