You'd lose your bet. FMI may be fairly accused of many things, a certain
ineptitude in their web design certainly, but I would not ascribe what you
describe to the person I like least in the marketing department, let alone
to any of the engineers.

It is an unfair accusation. FMI is constantly haranguing us to submit bug
reports and feature requests. They are not idiots, and want all the feedback
they can get, so that they can craft a better product, about which much of
the staff feel passionately. One of their complaints is that so many of the
complaints they need to hear are mis-directed to lists like this one.

I will post the bug on the FMP website (why don't they make it easier to

I'll lay heavy odds that it's intentional. They want to increase the odds
that only people who really, really want to get in touch with them will go
thru the necessary hoops to find it. This is kind of a preliminary ruff cut
to screen out the spam and nuisance calls. You wouldn't bother if it was
just some little minor quirk, but obviously you don't put the current
problem in that category, so their little lure has trapped exactly the kind
of fly they're looking for. (Pardon the bug analogy.)
