Humm. . . On my Mandrake 9.0 box, the rpm user's shell is set to /bin/false , so I would suspect that you can probably safely change it to that. If anything breaks, you can always change it back. If all goes well, you'll probably want to file a bug with RedHat at bugzilla.redhat.com . Hope this helps, Terry
