Namespaces aren't even remotely related with seecure communications. Neither are DTDs related to retrieving PDF over HTTPS. Whatever was retrieved by the server in order to produce the PDF doesn't cause security warnings on the client (I boldly assume the error message poped up at the client, it sounds IEx-ish).

There's absolutely nothing which can be said about the original
posters problem without having a loook at the URLs in question
as well as the response headers, the exact brand and version of
the browser and perhaps the plugin used for the PDF rendering,
whether the PDF was sent as part of a MIME multipart response
and a few other details.
