IMHO, that is more a problem of your novel setup than of Lazarus.
I don't think so. It's a vaild setup for Windows machines since many years (see http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/3136.html). So why consider all other setups but not this one?
Anyway you know now the trick: --pcp.
That's true. I am only thinking of others who have to learn this the hard way too.
