If I can butt in...

I had a look at newgd.po and played with it a bit (hope you dont' mind). The
problems with the critical errors seem to be:

line:6: nplurals = 4 - complains that there are 4 plural forms declared...
line:1313: but some translations have only 2 plural forms. I'm hardly an
expert on this so correct me if I'm wrong, but adding "msgstr[2]" and
"msgstr[3]" string to the entries with plurals should do the trick (right?)

line:9622: gettext complains about the order of variables, %s should follow
%d in the translation (like in the original) or use "%2$d" first and then
"%1$s" (which tells the program that you reversed the order of the
variables)

line:9728: translation has one %d, while the original only has %s, so change
the %d into %s

line:9750: a variable missing: "%" instead of "%s"

line:9766: the translation doesn't have any %d, which is in the translation,
put %d in the proper place

line:9782: a variable missing: "%" instead of "%s"

line:9797: a variable missing: "%" instead of "%s"

line:12171: same as line 9622

Hope this helps :)
