First, I would like to apologize for not replying to this email in a
timely fashion.

These two strings are used to generate the names for the auto-save
files. Stem is used in the sense of word stem, but "part" would be just
as accurate.

The language of vexillology, like that of heraldry, looks a lot like
English, but isn't really. I recommend looking up the meaning of these
terms at wkipedia or flagspot.net or a similar site, since an example is
probably more informative than any amount of description. "Per bend
sinister" means divided diagonally from top right to bottom left, for
example, and "per saltire" means divided diagonally from top right to
bottom left and from top left to bottom right.

No, you must not translate "plural" in this case. This whole construct
is a conditional format that works as follows: "plural" is a "tag", i.e.
a fixed string that determines how the next element, the "selector" is
to be interpreted. "%turns%" is the selector. It is expected that this
variable will be replaced with a number, which will then be categorized
as singular, plural, dual or whatever, depending on the language
involved. This category will then be used to select one of the
alternatives listed. In the above case, the construct will be replaced
with "next turn" if "%turns%" equals "1", and with "in 7 turns" if
"%turns%" equals "7", for example.
