There you have a good point.  The Col1 manual documents the years, and the
effect of using years is probably to make the game harder with >2 seasons,
which is a slight balance to higher seasons generally making things
easier.  Ages specified as years will be in the patch.

I am familiar with the concept.  I is an easy thing to say.  However as
the release manager and major FreeCol bug fixer, I am often the one who
ends up cleaning up the mess and dealing with complaints in a release.
OTOH not having an option at all has its benefits, so do not have a firm
view either way here.

The ages fix is imminent.  I will work on the rest of Turn today, and
if all goes well include it in the overnight regression tests.
If uninterrupted I will be done on Monday.
