I've never seen such problems with VBox, but I only use fairly recent
versions under Win64 host. This has to be some other hidden problem.
(Besides, considering how important DJGPP is to DOS, it's almost impossible
to live without. Heck, even though I like 8086 in principle, I would be
very unhappy if I couldn't run any DJGPP stuff.) Perhaps your Linux distro
(or specific build) is to blame.

But anyways, QEMU isn't bad either (obviously). Worst case, just use that.
