Tiny and Small are better than nothing. AFAIK, DOS-C used to use Small model. FreeCOM also uses Small model too, IIRC.
Does it? To get what I wanted out of my own command shell required me to use Compact (though that thing NEVER worked right).
All of the TurboC ports should be deprecated in lieu of OpenWatcom (or, better yet, DJGPP). FreeDOS needs to be "Free". I know some here have a hard time accepting this, but we really need to focus on using Free tools. That doesn't mean you can't also support others at the same time. It also doesn't mean that we're forcing 386+ DJGPP as exclusive main compiler.
Well, some people would debate how "open" OpenWatcom really is (I think there's a stipulation in the license that makes it questionable at best by the Free Software Foundation's guidelines, which is why the OP was even opposed to using it, as opposed to something like GCC where nobody questions that it is indeed open source, by which to spare anyone the ambiguity of either "open source" or "free" software, I will add, I mean "four freedoms compliant" software).
