Unfortunately, that's subjective.  I think 2 spaces is just fine.
With a tab (which is usually 8 spaces) lines just go off the end of
your terminal very easily, which makes it much harder to read IMO.
Three or four spaces may be ok, but I normally use 2.  Four seems a
reasonable compromise if anyone feels particularly strongly about it.
