Same here.  Trying to comment out a section of well-documented code in an
environment that doesn't support nested comments gets really, really old... 
At first, I too hated the truly ugly ////////'s everywhere, but when I could
comment out a section without worrying about the millions of comments
everywhere (I'm a rampant documenter...).  I too got over the look.

Of course, a hundred lines of //'ing gets old, too...
