freevo -fs starts X if freevo is running on X. Framebuffers such as
directfb don't need/want X running. IIRC in the wiki it suggests using
ratpoison as window manager, this works well for a dedicated box as it is
so light weight.

I use rc4.d for my freevo start-up because runlevel 4 is free to use. And
only start the services that freevo needs. Then in grub/lilo you can add a
4 at the end of the kernel line.

Another 2 rappons worth.
