What is the config option you are talking about? I only see a single
CONFIG_DRM_I915_KMS option, with the (confusing) title "enable it by
default". So the switch is just about enabling or disabling it by
default, but the support is always enabled? Or have I mistaken
something?

Splashy uses directfb, so as long as directfb supports inteldrmfb, it's
fine. Though I'm not sure the later is true.
