I also have done somewhat of a mix lately, but I will say that everything
that was fusedoc'd before coding began was EASILY delivered on time, even
though the people working on it had less knowledge of cold fusion.

The projects that were a struggle were the ones that fusedocs were not
fusedoc'd in advance, even though the more knowledgable developers were
working on them.

Granted, there are many intricacies between projects that make some harder
than others, but we would have solved a large number of them with fusedocs.

As a result, I am trying to get the "Always Fusedoc in advance" approach to
be adopted, but that will take some more time, and I will continue to push
in that direction.

Subject: RE: Who Uses Fusedocs?

Two of the past projects I worked on one of them we used fusedocs one of
them we didn't.

The one we did it was a large project that was built across a team of 8
developers of varying skill levels, the detailed instructions contained
inside the fusedocus were very helpful in making sure that all the fuses did
what they were supposed to. Senior developers checked the work of junior
developers against the fusedocs to see that the fuses were doing what they
needed to.

The project we didn't use fusedocs was a smaller project that only had 2
senior developers working on it. We identified all the circuit applications
and fuses for the application using visual mind map. The senior developers
were then solely responsible for making sure that the functionality worked.

Both ways worked fine for us, we delivered our projects on time to satisfied
clients. I find fusedocs a worthwhile endeavour when working with a larger
team of developers or developers with different skill levels, when working
on a solo project or with a small number of other senior developers I just
use the mind map to know where we're going and I allow the developers to
work out their own solutions.

Hope that helps.

Subject: Who Uses Fusedocs?

I would like to raise an heretical issue. WHO USES FUSEDOCS? At various
user group meetings I have discussed the use of Fusebox. Everyone seems to
be using the coding methodology by NO ONE is using FUSEDOCS! The coders are
structuring their code with Fusebox but not taking the time to use the
design methods inherent in the development of FUSEDOCS.

This has certainly been true in the last two large Fusebox projects I have
been involved in. The developers do not want to spend 'coding time'
developing Fusedocs and the managers have no interest in spending
development time engaged in that level of planning detail.

How are various developers planning their sites if they are not using
FUSEDOCS?
