Unfortunately, if you have a single RIP for the HP, you will only be
able to take advantage of two formats.  The PDF and the JLYT.  If you
use the PPML, it will work, but you will have no advantage, because PPML
is primarily used in a multi-RIP environment.  (it works, but very
little speed advantage for a single RIP)

We had to bite the bullet and invest in the HP Production Manager.  The
bench marks were a 1/10th of the processing time we experienced prior to
its arrival.

The Printable JLYT solution is still young and is improving with every
release, however there will be times a JLYT works and one written in the
same batch will not.  HP just released software that works with the
Printable JLYT better, but still has some growing to do.

RIPPING still has to occur somewhere, so if you use the JLYT output in
Printable, you will still have to "compose" on your desktop or server.
For this, Printable has their higher end solutions that help not only
reduce this composition time, but offer additional workflow options.

Bottom line, one RIP on the HP is not a good solution for a variable
data environment....
