All, Unfortunately, if you have a single RIP for the HP, you will only be able to take advantage of two formats. The PDF and the JLYT. If you use the PPML, it will work, but you will have no advantage, because PPML is primarily used in a multi-RIP environment. (it works, but very little speed advantage for a single RIP)
We had to bite the bullet and invest in the HP Production Manager. The bench marks were a 1/10th of the processing time we experienced prior to its arrival. The Printable JLYT solution is still young and is improving with every release, however there will be times a JLYT works and one written in the same batch will not. HP just released software that works with the Printable JLYT better, but still has some growing to do. RIPPING still has to occur somewhere, so if you use the JLYT output in Printable, you will still have to "compose" on your desktop or server. For this, Printable has their higher end solutions that help not only reduce this composition time, but offer additional workflow options. Bottom line, one RIP on the HP is not a good solution for a variable data environment.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Rob Seaver | VP Business Development The ADAM Group | TAG Marketing and Recruiting(tm) | Home Care >> Hospice 866.232.6477 | F: 866.232.6470 | www.yourreferralconnection.com -- Users of FusionPro Desktop have unlimited free email support.
