Harry, I'm not speaking for Lawry, but "let it alone" is
the same misguided environmentalism as the environmental fanatics. I
don't believe in Laissez Faire I believe in balanced development with a clear
democratic and egalitarian solution to the problems of culture and the human
future. I believe we should work out or future and not trust it to
invisible hands. And if there are the invisible currents you imply
then I would suggest building a boat and requiring that we "include the
opportunity" for everyone in that boat with a good sail. My
environmentalism is the same. I believe we must find a way to be good
gardeners where every species can live and including such things as shaping and
culling them within well regulated bounds.
