The "W" version incorporated some InterSpect code that allows it to block this traffic regardless of what port it uses. That's the big advantage, in my opinion, of "W". Unfortunately Floodgate stops working, so we can't go to "W".
That being said, we have a very restrictive outbound policy and I don't let anything outbound that I don't know about. These applications can no longer negotiate a random high port to try and sneak through your defenses and have to resort to HTTP where SmartDefense whacks them.
