With SPLAT Pro, you can enable other features that are NOT available in regular
SPLAT
such as RIP, OSPF and BGP (these options are available in R55 and R55w under
zebra
/etc/zebra). I don't recall having to apply additional license under R55w. In
my testing
of R55w, I can form OSPF between SPLAT and my upstream Cisco Router without
any problems.

Having said that, I think there are quite a few bugs regarding routing
protocols in R55 and
R55w, I suspect that's why Checkpoint did not charge customers for it. There
is no such
thing as "FREE" in the world of Checkpoint. I also suspect that after fine
tunning these
routing procotols in NGx R60, they rename it to SPLAT Pro and start charging
customers
for it, those checkpoint bastards.

Another thing, if I am not mistaken, if you run SPLAT on either a dual or quad
CPU boxes,
you need SPLAT pro in order to get CP to utilize all the CPUs of the device.

Thanks, but that's not really answering my question.
What does it do?
