Not quite. We support plenty of Check Point customers as well as other
products. And now that I know my way around I can get most Check Point
issues resolved before any other manufacturer can get similar issues
resolved.
But among the manfucaturers I work with I think I also have a reputation
of being a major PITA if their support is performing poorly. However I
never whine on it on a mailinglist. I go about and find the right angle to
get support to perform as they should. Even if it means I have to hand a
stick to our CEO so he can slam it on the table of the CEO of the
manufacturer. (That stick being the documented case.)
However you missed my point completely. If you run a closed-source product
you have to rely on support of the manufacturer of that product to get a
code changed done. That is a decision you made. For years now that is not
your only option.
And frankly with your chosen name I would not be eager to give out
support unless my company name was Cisco.
Not knowing your setup nor the actual case I can not judge wether or not a
given support solution is appropriate. But if you tried to push a square
peg in a round hole you may find that someone tells you to try a hole big
enough.
Hugo.
