There are several advantages that Rainwall has in providing HA & Load
Balancing for FW-1:
1) Rainwall is installed directly on the firewall servers. Only one copy is
needed, regardless of number of interfaces. H/W solutions need to surround
the whole cluster to fully load balance traffic. That gets very costly as
the number of interfaces increase. And if redundant switches are required,
total cost of H/W solutions become even more expensive.
2) Rainwall will failover VPN traffic transparently. It also monitors FW-1
state in a much more thorough manner than just pinging performed by H/W
solutions.
3) Rainwall can asymmetrically rout traffic in a FW-1 cluster, which
increases throughput performance.
