Potentially, though it will depend on a lot of factors. Appliances
generally don't follow "Moore's Law" the way that server platforms do in
terms of general purpose power. Instead, they use special purpose ASICs
for their special purpose, then a weak general purpose core for doing
things like VRRP and 3/4's of the bullet points on the glossy brochure.
However, if you just wanted that special purpose (e.g. traffic
management), the switches you mention are probably the fastest possible
way to feed traffic into your firewalls. Of course if you want to approach
feature parity with Rainwall you'll need to place two traffic management
switches on every subnet that's directly attached to the firewall cluster,
and you still won't match the scalability.
