Oh well, guess I should be happy to spend a bunch more hours wiping and
reinstalling everything now rather than later when I would lose critical
data. Guess I was confused by all the past discussion regarding drive
partitioning, OSX on the first partition, OS9 on the second etc. that I
thought this would be the way to go. As I mentioned, OSX is a whole new
animal for me so I'm sure there were aspects of these past discussions that
went right over my head.

I just wish I didn't have to go through all the reinstallation, upgrading
and network/internet setup again.
