If you divide $100 by 12 months, you get $8.33 a month. $4.17 a month for your first year. So .Mac isn't a total rip off. You're paying about the same for usa.com as you would for .Mac, but with .Mac you get 15MB of email space.
I'm not saying you're making a bad decision, I'm just saying that usa.com email isn't any cheaper than .Mac the way you put it. You probably knew that anyway.
