I had a iTools but opted not to pay for .Mac. The reason: I used my .mac address as a "vanity" address. Thinking it was going to be permanent, I told everyone to send mail to me at my mac.com address, which I simply had forwarded to my email address that I got through my ISP.
My problem with the way Apple has handled this transition is not that they are charging for .Mac (more power to 'em!), but that they didn't recognize that some of us loyal Mac users (I wrote my Master's thesis on an original Mac, when it was bleeding edge) didn't use any of the iTools services other than the email address. Not even any email storage space. Apple should give away email addresses without any storage space--it's basically free advertising for them (I've had many people ask me about it--"do you work for Apple now?"--that kind of thing). It would be a win-win situation--they get advertising, I get a permanent email address that I can just keep forwarding to my ISP du jour. Instead they ticked me off because I had to (yet again) change my email address. - Mark --------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 23 Sep 2002 08:10:32 -0600 Subject: Re: .Mac From: Kenneth Stevens <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> On Monday, September 23, 2002, at 04:34 AM, Demetrius wrote: > Hello, > > Just wanted to get some feedback concerning .Mac.
