Pismo 400, OS X 10.1.5,  'MAIL' software.

An hour ago I had 200 messages in my inbox. Now there are two. Anybody
seen the others? Or have any idea where they might be?

Been mucking around with mail & preferences today as ISP (not Mac.com)
has been on its monthly 'its not broke, so lets go and fix it' campaign.
They cut one email address (which had just been paid last month), so
been trying to get it back working what with language, accent problems
etc., its been very trying.
         Then I quit Mail and IE but when restarted inbox was empty. (2 in
there now are new)

        Have I lost them? A years supply of dental floss to the first
person to help me find them! - if they are to be;

        TIA,
        Stuart.
